A One-Woman Comedy about Sex, Celebrity & The Pursuit of Happiness
-- Written & Performed by Cyndi Freeman
(FringeNYC award-winner--Best Collaborative Effort, 1998)
-- Co-Written & Directed by Ellen Groves
What's a struggling Hollywood wannabe to do when she meets the love of
her life and he's a mega-star with a girlfriend and a reputation for
messy
personal affairs?
"I KISSED DASH RIPROCK" takes you through the looking glass, into
a land of luxury hotel suites, million-dollar mansions, chauffeurs,
champagne,
paparazzi, psycho fans and carrots dangled on sticks -- told in a unique
storytelling style that's part stand-up and part theatre, with a camp
sensibility all its own.
Based on dreams, delusions and true personal misadventures, Freeman
performs 4 comic monologues that follow the heart on a joyride through
Hollywood, Boston, New York & London -- a global chronicle of those from
the "right side" of the velvet rope and those who wait tables and hand
out leaflets while dressed as giant milk cartons.
This intrepid exploration of art, love, fame and happiness rips the
veneer
off celebrity, for a piercing look at what draws people together despite
the
well-meaning advice of friends, family and mental ealth professionals.
When fate (and hormones) constantly throw our heroine up against the
object of her affections, and a "real" relationship proves ellusive, the
only thing a
gal can do is get over it and move on, right? Sure. And then the phone
rings...
